Job Summary
Smart Energy is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage end-to-end payroll operations in Santo Domingo. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a high-volume workforce, including employees supporting call center and operational environments.
The ideal candidate has strong payroll expertise, leadership experience, and a solid understanding of Dominican labor laws, with prior exposure to call center or high-headcount organizations preferred.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the full payroll cycle (twice a month) for all employees
· Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Dominican labor and tax regulations
· Oversee payroll for production workforce and back office, employees including shift differentials, overtime, commissions, and incentives
· Coordinate payroll data with HR, Finance, and Operations teams
· Maintain and audit employee payroll records, deductions, benefits, and tax filings
· Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries
· Prepare payroll reports for management and audits
· Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
· Support process improvements and payroll system enhancements
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field
· Minimum 3–5 years of payroll management experience
· Proven experience handling high-volume payroll
· Strong knowledge of Dominican labor law, taxes, and social security (TSS)
· Experience working with payroll systems and Excel
· Attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
· Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Preferred Qualifications
· Payroll experience in call centers or large operational environments
· Experience managing payroll for multiple shifts and variable compensation structures
· Bilingual (English required)
· Prior leadership or team-management experience
